How do I check if my iOS device supports eSIM?

Whether a device can be eSIM-compatible depends on whether a manufacturer includes an eSIM. That's why we have a list of eSIM-compatible devices for easy checking.Some models are only available in specific countries or regions and even come without an eSIM capability. The carrier you purchased your device from might not have enabled an eSIM feature.

Follow the steps below to see if your iOS device has an eSIM; remember that the steps below may or may not apply to your device.

The only natural way to confirm eSIM capability is through your device manufacturer and primary carrier.

For iPhone:

• Launch the Settings app, then tap General.
• HOME > SETTINGS > GENERAL > ABOUT APPLE
• Sometimes you need to tap the "model number" entry itself repeatedly until it cycles through various combinations, ending on an AXXXX combination.

Verification: Remember that your iPhone's model number is not from the Chinese region.

If the model number is not on any of the lists of mainland China, Hong Kong, and Macao devices, then your device is probably eSIM-enabled. Now, you can check if the iPhone is carrier-locked or unlocked. Follow these steps for that.

 

• OPEN the Settings app, then tap General.
• TAP About.
• SCROLL down to the Carrier Lock field. Your iPhone will be unlocked if no SIM restrictions appear next to Carrier Lock.

 

For iPad:

• Now, open up Settings and tap General.
• TAP About:.
• Press the model number until the code changes to an AXXXX combination.
• Check that the model number of your iPad does not derive from a Chinese region.

Suppose your model number doesn't match the above China mainland, Hong Kong, and Macao variants. In that case, your device should still work with eSIM, provided it has cellular functionality.
